US states legal challenge to Paramount Skydance takeover of Warner Bros Discover results in settlement

A coalition of 12 US states led by California has settled its legal challenge to Paramount Skydance's $110bn takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery. This clears the last major hurdle to a deal already approved by competition authorities in the US, the EU and the UK.

Balanced Economy Project says, “Brussels imposed a structural remedy, though a narrow one. In London the CMA cleared the deal without conditions and the Culture Secretary accepted weak promises that Paramount will police itself. Now the American states have settled for promises too. By waving this deal through, they have allowed Paramount to become even more dominant across the entertainment ecosystem.
