Large majority of French, German and Spanish public back tough EU stance on Big Tech power
Against a backdrop of US pressure and bullying tactics, a new survey conducted by YouGov, has shown approximately two thirds of people in France, Germany and Spain believe that Europe should take tougher action against Big Tech companies with robust law enforcement.
Commissioned by People vs Big Tech and WeMove Europe, the results also show that roughly half surveyed in the three countries believe that Big Tech companies are more powerful than the EU.
Balanced Economy Project has been working with other civil society organisations to demand the European Commission impose structural remedies on Big Tech monopolies to counteract their dominant and harmful power. The means breaking up Big Tech firms. The YouGov survey showed roughly twice as many respondents back the EU to break up Big Tech companies, as those who believe that the EU should not.
This comes ahead of the Commission’s expected imminent announcement of the results of its long-awaited antitrust investigation into Google’s advertising monopoly.
