Back from MozFest 2025: Challenging Power, Building Momentum

The Balanced Economy Project attended the Mozilla Festival 2025 in Barcelona - a powerful gathering of ideas, resistance, and collective energy.

Mozilla Festival 2025 in Barcelona is a powerful gathering of ideas, resistance, and collective energy.

Our session, “Myth or Reality: Monopolies and Profit Models,” drew a packed room, a clear sign that people are ready to challenge the status quo.

Here are were our top three takeaways:

🔹 Across sectors - from online safety to open source, linguistics to regulation—the same challenge persists: excessive financial and corporate power. It’s the thread connecting our work and the problem we must solve.

🔹 The issues we face are universal, and solutions won’t come from any single political force. Real change will be built collectively, across communities and philosophies.

🔹 To make that change happen, we need to invest in organising and collective action. It’s not just about ideas—it’s about building power together.

Let’s keep the momentum going. If you were at MozFest or are working on these issues please do connect with us and help drive change.
